The Edit: New sewing patterns – February 11 – The Fold Line

It's time to take your weekly dose of The Edit: new sewing patterns. This blog and vlog highlight some of the new products arriving in stores this week. Kate talks about all the details you need to know, so if you're a model enthusiast like us, this is for you!

If you love pockets and workwear style, the Chalk and Notch Den Jacket could be the spring brand for you. There are seam lines in the sleeve and bodice that allow for topstitching or color blocking. The sleeve facing serves as a foldable cuff. The center front closure can be buttons or snaps. View A is a trendy cropped jacket that ends mid-rise. View B is a hip length jacket that ends at the bottom of the hips. Both versions include front patch pockets and large on-seam pockets.

Do you like darts? Well, this nifty model puts them in unexpected places. The Archer easy-fit barrel-shaped work pants feature knee darts on the front and back legs as well as an ankle dart in the back, giving these pants their distinctive shape. Other special details include oversized askew front pockets and a contrast crotch panel.

Want to try zero waste sewing this year? I think this is a great model to start with. The ZW Jumper has an oversized body with a curved hem and slim sleeve, making it perfect for layering.

Romance is (supposedly) in the air, but the only romance I need is from a sewing pattern! Inspired by 19th-century virago sleeves, the Ophelia dress and top offer a dose of whimsy with a modern twist. These sleeves are fascinating.

If you appreciate a vintage aesthetic, the Milano dress and blouse is worth a look. This 1940s-inspired dress and blouse features an empire cut, high neck with ruching, and long bishop sleeves. Version 1 is a dress closed with buttons in the center front. Version 2 is a blouse closed with an invisible zipper in the side seam.

Are Pilou pajamas cute? These classic unisex pajamas have a comfortable straight fit. The neckline, bottom of the top, sleeves and legs are all finished with ribbed or jersey bands. Using different knitted fabrics, from fine jersey to the thickest sweat fabric, you can make pajamas for all seasons. You can also use the top pattern to make a sweatshirt, and the pants pattern to sew jogging pants!

This pattern gave us all a touch of nostalgia – reminding us of the animal slippers we had in our youth! Patapouf slippers include five models: rabbit, cat, deer, penguin and dragon. Or you can create a monochrome version without the character details. The opening can be finished with a ribbed band that covers the ankle. The ankle height version is particularly suitable for small feet.
