I just dug through this year's most popular patterns to decide what to sew next. There is a sheep mentality to my sewing, if everyone else is doing something I am instantly more attracted to doing it. If you wanted to know what the most popular sewing patterns were this year, then you're in luck. We would like to know how many of these you already own or are any of them currently on your product list?
We also thought it might be fun to offer a discount on these designs so you can get them all with 10% off until September 17 (midnight UK time) with code: 2023MUSTHAVES
Paper Theory – Zadie Jumpsuit
The Zadie jumpsuit from Paper Theory is an unstoppable beast! Loved by many, this model is a winner – we even delved deeper into your love for this model. Its wide legs and interesting wraparound feature make it the ultimate comfortable one-piece swimsuit. Be warned that you will be sewing several!
Donny – Friday Model Society
This boxy sweater shirt has caught the attention of many of you for good reason. We love that this pattern has all the details we love in a shirt but with a simple construction. The camp style collar, no pleats and pop-over style have no closures. Above all, you don't argue with your buttonhole…we've all been there.
True Bias – Ogden Cami
There's nothing better than a good basic in your wardrobe and this timeless piece is one you'll wear year after year. The Ogden camisole ticks a lot of boxes, it's a simple sew, and if you're a beginner, you can totally make it. For a more advanced sewer, it won't take you long. There are endless hacks you can do with this template to make it your own.
Anna Allen – Anthéa blouse
We love the simplicity of the shape of this blouse, the buttons on the front and all the attention paid to “those” sleeves. This is truly an item you will reach for again and again. It also comes in a dress option so you can sew the perfect simple summer shirt dress. Win, win!
Kielo Wrap – Named Clothing
The OG of the independent sewing pattern world. The pattern is interesting, with two large pieces front and back and long ties that make up this pattern. Simply wrap the ties around you and you're done. This pattern is designed to be made in jersey but has also been made many times in woven fabrics and works just as well! Its simple construction and spectacular shape make it a favorite of all of you.
Heyday Overalls – Waves & Wild
The perfect overalls model for beginners with a seam in the center of the patch pockets on the legs and bib. There are also several ways to add a clip to the shoulder straps depending on your preferences.
Peony Dress – Godmother Fabric
I can see why this dress is so popular, it's a classic shape with interesting details including the subtle puff sleeves and ruffles on the sleeves and/or skirt. The dress has bust and waist darts, designed to be fitted but not too tight and should be made from something floaty.
Pomona pants – Anna Allen
These pants are on my list of brands. With its on-trend elasticated waist, it's designed to be high-waisted and, interestingly, it has no side seam. Choose from two leg shape cuts or turn them into shorts for summer.
Top Vetiver – French Navy
A pretty top that you can wear with jeans? It's no surprise that this model was such a success! The French Navy Vetiver top has a bodice delicately shaped with princess seams, which gives a silhouette that is both comfortable and feminine and can be dressed up or down depending on your choice of fabric.
Weathered Blouse – Friday Pattern Company
If you like the collar details, don't hesitate to take a look at the Patina blouse. It's such a versatile piece for your wardrobe, wear it to work or over jeans.
Olivia Blouse – Atleier Skirt
Another fantastic pop-over blouse, this one features a row of gathers sewn into the grandad-style collar. There are gathers on the sleeve that are sewn into the cuff and an option to make it into a dress.
Harlow shirt – Tessuti
This has to be one of my personal favorites of the year. Wear it as a shirt or open it up as a layering piece. Instantly, this item can be worn in so many ways, making it something truly versatile for your wardrobe. Don't forget to also check the pocket detail
Rémy Raglan – Sew House Seven
We love this simple woven top because you can do so many things with it. It's basically a woven t-shirt and long sleeve top with raglan sleeves. Everyone went crazy about it. Don’t forget to check out the expansion pack with the dream covers…
Protea Pants – Patrons Paradis
These high-waisted pants are very popular because of their two different cuts on the leg, which almost look like two different designs. You can choose between a fitted look with front pleats and wide legs, or a more simplified straight fit option.
Salt Water Slide – Friday Pattern Company
This is a fantastic option if you're looking for a simple summer dress. It also comes with adjustable straps and looks great worn over a top or on its own.
