One of my goals for 2024 was to be more intentional and thoughtful in what I do. I learned a lot last year about what I wear most and what types of projects bring me the most joy and I really wanted to put that into practice. This month I earned less than usual but I think that's a good thing! On a personal note, I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy in January, which definitely had an impact on my performance. Fortunately, I'm fine now and was able to take some well-deserved rest. I certainly don't measure my success as a creator in terms of the outcome, but rather in the joy and satisfaction I get in the process. So overall, I call January a success! Here is what I did:
1 sewn top
I finally made the cult classic Genra shirt. It's the perfect addition to my collection of various short sleeve button ups.
1 crochet sweater
My very first crochet project was this crochet sweater. This is a custom model made by JuuulMakes. I know that custom style designs aren't for everyone. For my novice level and the way I process information, I found this to be a perfect starting point.
I finished my test version of what I call the Citrus Tree quilt. I'm really excited about this one because I quilted it myself on a long arm! It was a really cool learning experience that I can't wait to try again.
I also finished a quilt top (still needs to be quilted) that I am going to give to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I love her look so far and think this might be an upcoming design! I'm not ready to share full photos yet, so you'll have to settle for this preview.
Major advances on a quilt pattern
I finished my test version of the Citrus Tree quilt and also made major progress writing the pattern. I'd say I'm 95% there and hope to get testers involved very soon. I can't wait to share this one with everyone!
What I'm looking forward to in February
I'm hoping that February will be a quieter month for me personally and that I'll have more time to create. I'll probably focus a little more on making clothes since I need some knit tops and have some great knits in my stash. I've been working on my 2nd crochet sweater, but the crocheting is going slowly so who knows if I'll finish in February. I will definitely make another Citrus Tree quilt since I always test my quilt patterns with my testers. Come back next month to see if I can do all this 😅
