I don't know if you've noticed, but cotton lawn is a great choice of fabric for making Garnet. It makes the top look more structured than rayon challis, silk noil, or double gauze, and not as casual as linen. This is because it has less drape than other fabrics. It is light, comfortable (especially in hot weather) and easy to sew because it is quite stable.
(PS. my Liberty Garnet is also a cotton lawn – the lawn also does a good job of showing the pleats if you choose to add them)
