Christmas tree skirt sewing pattern with flowers

I had some beautiful fat quarters in brown and pink floral fabric that I love. I really wanted to use it to decorate Christmas, and it was with these fabrics that I started to design the pattern. I needed the pattern piece to work with fat quarters, but I would show the fabric as much as possible.

I used 4 brown and pink floral fat quarters, then added a peach and off-white fat quarter. Each fat quarter is used twice, which you can see if you look at the whole circle.

This Christmas tree skirt features quilting on each side of the seam and then brown bias binding on all edges. I arranged the fabrics so that each half was a repeat, so I could see all the fabrics from the front of the tree.

I skipped adding a closure because the layers go all the way down to the Christmas tree skirt and adding anything will take longer.

Christmas Tree Skirt Sewing Pattern with Holiday Prints

For this Christmas tree version, I purchased a set of chunky modern holiday print quarters with directional prints. The fat quarters were printed so that the print followed the long edge of the fat quarter (technically on the side), so I was working with a single cut.

I used 4 twice because I could work with the off-center printing. Then I used 4 more with the print centered so they would only be seen once.

I coordinated the colors so that green, dark pink, and light pink alternated throughout the skirt. I love these fun prints together!

This Christmas tree skirt is quilted on each side of the seam, then another line down the center of each fabric. I used one of the fat quarters to make a bias for the edges, and I had enough for everything except the center. I used a piece of bias binding for the center, and it's a fun pop of color.

I skipped adding a closure because the layers go all the way down to the Christmas tree skirt and adding anything will take longer.

When I first started sewing for the holidays, I would buy beautiful holiday fabrics and never use them anymore. I was so in love with the fabric that I was afraid to use it and cut it. I wanted to decorate my home with these fabrics, but I needed courage and project ideas that didn't cut the fabric too small.

I looked for ideas, but I wasn't satisfied with the projects I saw. I wanted easy and quick that would highlight the prints of the fabric. I began designing my own holiday projects that would showcase the fabric I loved.

Some of the projects I have done are:
